I have found this textbook to be invaluable both as a tool for understanding continuum mechanics and as a reference book. The appendices on spherical and cylindrical coordinate systems are especially useful since I have seldom seen this information in other texts. The approach to continuum mechanics presented in this book is not as mathematical as in some other texts but I see this as a positive (at least for those of us with engineering backgrounds).
