The book is one of the best mathematical texts to be used as an introductory graduate course on complex variables. The presentation of the material in the first few chapters is flawless, with the problem sets at the end of each perfectly supported by the material previously presented. So much so, that one is able to complete most of the problems without any assistance what so ever from anyone, including the more difficult ones that test a student mathematical maturity with regard to proofs. The later chapters provide some excellent coverage of some simple applications. Overall, it is a superb intro to the subject of complex variables and an excellent text both for class use or self study.
