Longman Proficiency Skills Coursebook prepares students thoroughly and systematically for the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency. More than just a practice book, the coursebook lays emphasis on the development of structures, vocabulary, the four language skills and examination technique, and builds confidence in students as they prepare for the exam.
The Coursebook contains fifteen Units, each of the five examination Papers is focused on three times. Teachers have the choice of following the Units consecutively, or concentrating on particular Papers as necessary.
The course reflects the increased emphasis given to oral work in the revised exam. Classroom activities include individual, pair and group work to motivate students and to develop their listening and discussion skills. Testing is also well integrated into the course; each Unit ends with a test, and at the end of the book there is a full "mock" Proficiency Exam. Homework material is provided in every Unit for extra practice. As a final preparation for the exam, the last five Units concentrate on practical guidance, tips and examination technique.
