An updated account of the state of the art in the subject, presenting recent progress in two active and related areas of continuum mechanics: fracture mechanics and structured deformations. The course originated from recent progress in two active and related areas of continuum mechanics, the mathematical theory of fracture and the theory of structured deformations. The course was addressed to researchers in the field of continuum mechanics interested in methods for modeling material response, theoretical approaches to fracture mechanics, unified theories for different aspects of material behavior, and problems involving materials with microstructure. In fact, participants came both from industry and academia, and this diversity gave rise to many interesting discussions during and following the lectures.
Energy Minimization for Isotropie Nonlinear Elastic Bodies
Variational Problems of Crack Equilibrium and Crack Propagation
Griffith Theory Revisited
Foundations of the Theory of Structured Deformations
Second-Order Structured Deformations: Approximation Theorems
Crystalline Plasticity and Structured Deformations
