A general integration theory based on the concept of Riemanntype integral sums was initiated around 1960 by Jaroslav Kurzweil and independently by Ralph Henstock. Much of this theory can be presented at the level of undergraduate courses and this fact is reflected in the growing number of university textbooks or elementary expositions which include at least elementary facts about the Henstock-Kurzweil theory.
