This bibliography encompasses the use of the biological, physical, and mathematical sciences in archaeology. The time period is 1920 to 1980—the beginning date of 1920 was chosen since much material published prior to that date was found to be of limited usefulness, considering the technical advances that have been made, or was too difficult or impossible to locate even when using interlibrary services. Articles and books published in one of the six major European languages—English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Russian—are included in the original language. In accordance with the policy of the Tozzer Library, Harvard University, all German and Russian titles have been translated into English.
