In particular, I have supposed that his knowledge of the subject embraces inertial frames, Newton’s laws, the velocity and acceleration vectors and their components, properties of idealized components of mechanical systems such as inextensible strings, perfectly rough planes, etc., and the definitions of work and energy. However, some of the problems included in Chapter 2 serve to recall these fundamental concepts to mind.
