Waldbaum presents a complete corpus of metal objects and evidence for metalworking ranging in date from the Early Bronze Age to the Ottoman period. In addition to the material excavated between 1958 and 1974 she includes those metal objects from Sardis that have been found by chance and those that were excavated by the Princeton Expedition under Howard Crosby Butler in 1910-1914 and 1921-1922. A chapter of testimonia provides historic and cultural context and the results of extensive analyses provide new information on the development of alloys and working techniques.
