This well is located at the foot of the habitation mound, outside the city wall, and was accessed only by a steep climb down the exposed side of the mound. The water system at Megiddo is particularly interesting in that its development can be reconstructed practically step by step, which throws considerable light on the state of civilization existing during that time.
